Hello BaseKiteers! We’re back with another Monday Update to let you know what has been going on within BaseKit and what we have happening this week.

  • A new BaseKit release went live last week! Biggest visible feature is the release of domain mapping – now BaseKit subscribers can map their domain to BaseKit themselves without help from the BaseKit team.
  • Also LOTS of time was spend polishing the app and removing bugs reported by you, the users. BaseKit should now be a much faster, more stable and reliable application. As always, if you run across anything, please do let us know at support@basekit.com.
  • B’Hive is live! Would love any designers who are interested in Themes to check out the B’Hive – submit your themes for cash! We’d also just like any suggestions or thoughts on the B’Hive site.

Yes – The B’Hive! What exactly is the B’Hive you may ask? The B’Hive is our design community. If you’ve created a fantastic theme for BaseKit why not make some cash from it? Read our guidelines on what we want from your designs, and if you create something you can upload it and make up to $200!

The B’Hive is in it’s very early stages – it just went live today – so we’re sure you have plenty of questions and suggestions about how it all works. Direct these to support@basekit.com as your feedback will shape it’s future. We’ll go into a lot more detail about the B’Hive in an upcoming blog post.

We’re still running the iStock Design Competition – All you have to do is design a website using iStockphoto.com images and build it on BaseKit. Then enter your design by 2 May 2010 to stand a chance of winning some enormous prizes including iPads, Wacom Tablets, iPods and iStock credits. Head over here for full details.

And lastly – we have one Webinar running this week at 18.30 GMT on Tuesday – head over here to sign up.

If you’ve been watching the BaseKit twitter or Facebook page, you may have noticed us announcing times of BaseKit webinars every few days.

So, what is a ‘BaseKit Webinar?’

Essentially it’s a Web based seminar – hence the name!

So – what happens in a BaseKit webinar? (Probably a better question!)

When you log into a BaseKit webinar you will see a screencast from BaseKit usability expert Gordon as he shows you how to build a site, step by step. As the webinars only last one hour – we know you guys are as busy as us – we can’t show you everything that BaseKit can do – but don’t worry – a webinar is a two way street – you can ask questions or get clarification on any aspects of BaseKit.

We try to run at least two a week. We hope you can make it to one, but we do know that we have an international user base so timing could be a problem. If so, let us know when you’d like a BaseKit webinar to be run in the comments and we’ll see what we can do!

So, if you are stuck with a widget, or just want a helping hand to get started with BaseKit it’s well worth attending a webinar!

You can sign up for a Webinar right here!

Like we’ve said before, BaseKit is simple to use. But even the most simple of tools need some guidance before they can be used effectively and to their full potential.

This is why every Friday afternoon our useabilty expert – Mr Gordon Plant – hosts a live Webinar demonstrating BaseKit’s functionality and answering your questions. Usually this will take the form of Gordon showing you how to build a site from a Photoshop document and then explaining one of the features in more depth, like editing the CSS or how to use layer effects…

We can even send you the files used in the demo so you can put the site together yourself, and of course Gordon will answer any questions you may have. You can also suggest features you want to see in future directly to people on the BaseKit team.

We use Webex to deliver the Webinar, so all you’ll need is an internet connection. Of course it’ll be much better if you’ve got a mic and a webcam, but it’s up to you!

So, if you’re interested in finding out how to get the most out of BaseKit mail us at beta@basekit.com and join in!
