10 Cheesiest Movie Love Scenes

We all know that love isn’t like it is in the movies. The film industry have got it down to a tee when it comes to making gushy, over-the-top and ridiculous love scenes. And while the romantic in us longs to believe every word that is being said on the screen, there is the other side of us that cringes and literally can’t bear to watch.

Here are our top 10:

“Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” 10 Things I Hate About You

10 Things I Hate About You provides one of the most romantic and over-the-top renditions of Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”. Complete with marching school band, this has to be one of the best!

An Officer and a Gentleman

The end scene from An Officer and a Gentleman sees Richard Gere literally sweep Debra Winger off her feet. He storms into the factory where she is working, picks her up and carries her out to soundtrack  ”Up Where We Belong”.

Pretty Woman

Everyone loves a happy ending and that’s exactly what we get in Pretty Woman. The end scene shows Richard Gere playing a knight in shining armour as he rescues Julia Roberts from her miserable life by climbing up a fire escape – even though he is scared of heights.

“I’m Flying” Titanic

There were so many scenes to choose from in Titanic but this one is probably the cheesiest. The scene shows Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet ‘flying’ at the front of the ship to the Celine Dion soundtrack.

Ghost

Who can forget the pottery scene between Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in Ghost? It’s a scene that has been recreated many times over the years and has firmly placed itself as one of the cheesiest love scenes ever.

Four Weddings and a Funeral

The famous end scene from Four Weddings and a Funeral undoubtedly has one of the cheesiest lines we have ever heard. As Hugh Grant is declaring his love for Andie McDowell in the pouring rain she exclaims, “Is it still raining? I hadn’t noticed.”

Sex and the City Movie Scene

The highly anticipated Sex and the City Movie certainly didn’t fail to deliver when it came to cheesiness. Our favourite scene is when Mr Big proposes to Carrie with a Manolo Blahnik shoe. Predictable and corny!

Love Actually

Okay, so technically every scene in this film is a little cheesy but there is one scene that stands out amongst them all. We’re talking about the scene with the cue cards. Keira Knightly opens the door to be greeted by Andrew Lincoln holding a collection of personalised cue cards complete with Christmas carols playing in the background.

Spiderman Kiss

One of the defining points in the Spiderman movie was that kiss between Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. The corny lines, rain and music help put this scene on the cringe factor.

Notting Hill

Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts had us all wincing with embarrassment in Notting Hill. The end scene tops it all off as the pair declare their love for each other through a press conference.
