We were absolutely delighted at BaseKit when we came across these vintage Sainsbury’s packing designs from the 1960’s and 1970’s. The simple graphics and brightly coloured designs could be found on a range of products spanning from cornflake boxes, crisp packets, pet food, soup tins and lots more.
Supermarket design took a creative turn when Peter Dixon joined the Sainsbury’s design studio in 1962. All the designs can be found in Own Label: Sainsbury’s Design Studio 1962 – 1977 by Jonny Trunk which is to be published later this month.
